Soothing for fast relief
For sunburnt faces that appear red and feel burning hot, Avène Thermal Spring water is a great ally ! This iconic product can be sprayed directly on the skin or with compresses to help cool and calm the inflammation.
After soothing with the Thermal Spring water, we would recommend hydrating with the Avène Soothing Moisture Mask. Apply the mask as a thick layer on the face and leave on until it has completely... With soothing properties, it hydrates and helps reduce discomfort, while providing immediate relief.
In addition to these treatments, we also need to hydrate from the inside. Drink plenty of water, regularly. Avoid going back out in the sun until the inflammation is resolved, or make sure you don’t go out without sunscreen and a hat.
In the event of a sunburn, the face can sometimes reveal painful blisters. If this is the case, you must be careful what you put on your face, especially if the blisters are open.
We suggest sticking to Thermal Spring water compresses to aid in soothing and calming the skin, consult your Doctor or a Pharmacist.
They may be able to recommend a suitable healing cream such as Cicalfate Restorative Cream, a cream used to assist with minor burns, skin restoration and to help soothe the discomfort. A great product to keep in your first aid kit or bag.
In all cases, avoid makeup for a few days if you can. It is important to try and keep the skin clean and intensely moisturised or use a prescription ointment if prescribed.
