It is with deep emotion that our editorial team learned this Tuesday evening of the death of Tshombe Sampson, a California-licensed attorney. He passed away suddenly while attending the Burning Man festival, where—as he did every year—he was volunteering his legal services.

Coming from a humble background and a family of eight siblings—his father was a pastor—Tshombe was a graduate of Dartmouth College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics. He went on to obtain an MBA specializing in finance and a law degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu. He also took photography courses at Santa Monica College, and his keen eye earned him several awards. A film enthusiast, he also served on various festival juries.
An accomplished basketball player, Tshombe was universally liked within the French-speaking community; he generously provided us with advice during the creation of our publication and kindly photographed our launch party.
The team at Le PetitJournal Los Angeles extends its heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. A memorial service will be held soon, and we will share the details once they are finalized.
